These apple roses are the perfect combination of slightly sweet and indulgent along with aesthetically pleasing. They are so easy and you will wow yourself and your family and friends!

Ingredients:

2-3 red apples

¼ cup apricot jam

1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry (thawed)

3 tablespoons confectioners sugar

Butter for greasing the pan

Raw sugar

Cinnamon

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Butter and dust a muffin tin with raw sugar and cinnamon.

Cut the apples into thin slices (leave the peel on for color). Boil the sliced apples for about one minute to slightly soften them making them easier to roll.

Unwrap the puff pastry and roll it out so that you will get 6 strips that are 2 inches wide each strip.

Spread a thin layer of jam on each strip of dough.  (If your jam isn’t spreading easily, you can heat it up just a bit.)

Arrange the apple slices so that they are overlapping and the skin side is sticking out of the strip a little at the top.

Fold up the bottom part of the dough

Starting at one end, roll the dough and place the roll into a greased muffin tin.  Once you have prepared all of your apple roses, lightly sprinkle some raw sugar and cinnamon on them.

Bake your roses for about 45 minutes until golden brown.

Remove the roses from the pan by slipping a knife around them while they are still hot.  If you let them cool in the pan it will be very hard to remove them.

Dust with confectioners sugar before serving.

Makes 12 apple roses.

  1. They look beautiful. I want to try them. I wonder if a thin slice of ham would give me that salty sweet that I love. I may try…..
